Our commitment

Spray Tanning by Rosie wants this website to be usable by everyone, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, and we treat accessibility problems as bugs to fix.

What we’ve done

  • Color contrast: text and background colors are chosen to meet WCAG AA contrast ratios.
  • Keyboard navigation:links, buttons, menus and FAQ answers use standard links, buttons and expandable sections, so they can be reached with a keyboard, and we don’t hide the browser’s focus outline.
  • Skip link:a “Skip to content” link comes before the menu on every page, in every language, so keyboard and screen-reader users can jump past the menu.
  • Text alternatives:photos have alt text describing what’s in them, and decorative icons are hidden from screen readers.
  • Reduced motion: if your device is set to reduce motion, the fade-in animations as sections appear are switched off.
  • Structure: each page has one main heading, headings follow a logical order, and landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) help you move around.
  • Readable, recognisable links: links in text are underlined, and call and text buttons are large enough to tap comfortably.
  • No barriers to booking: there are no forms, logins or time limits. Booking is a phone call or a text.

Languages & right-to-left

The main pages of the site are available in English, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic and Spanish. Hebrew and Arabic pages are laid out right-to-left, and each page declares its language and text direction so screen readers can pronounce it correctly.

Known limitations

We’re a small, one-person business, and some things are still being improved:

  • Some articles and pages are in English only, even when the interface is in another language.
  • Older photos may have alt text that could be more descriptive.
  • Links to Instagram and Facebook lead to third-party sites whose accessibility we don’t control.
  • Booking is by phone call or text message. If neither works for you, let us know and we’ll find another way, such as having someone you trust contact us for you.

Report a barrier

If something on this site is hard to use, or you need information in a different format, please call (917) 326-0303 (or send a text). Tell us the page and what went wrong. Rosie will reply as soon as she can (not on Shabbat or Jewish holidays) and fix problems as quickly as possible. In the meantime, she’ll get you the information you need directly.

Visiting the studio

The studio is a private space in Midwood, Brooklyn. If you have mobility, sensory or other access needs, please call ahead to discuss access needs before booking, so Rosie can tell you what to expect and plan your appointment around you. For groups of 5 or more, a mobile visit may also be an option.
