Why kallahs come to Rosie
Private, unhurried, and on your schedule
A kallah spray tan is a bridal tan with a few extra things to get right: modesty, Shabbat, the mikvah, and a family calendar that is already full.
A private studio and a woman artist
Your appointment is with Rosie alone, in her studio in Midwood. The street address is shared when you book. You choose your coverage: your own swimwear, underwear, or the disposables she keeps in the studio. If you would rather keep a robe on while you talk through the shade, do. Nothing about your appointment, your wedding or your photos is shared without your permission.
Shabbat-aware scheduling
The studio is open Sunday to Thursday, 9 AM to 8 PM, and Friday from 9 AM until one hour before sunset. It is closed Shabbat and Yom Tov. Because a tan needs about eight hours to develop before its first rinse, Rosie plans Friday appointments so the rinse is done before candle lighting. In winter, that usually means a Thursday tan for a Sunday wedding. The hours are worked out in spray tan timing before Shabbat and Yom Tov.
Timing built around your tevilah
Published halachic Q&A sources such as Yoatzot Halacha and DIN Online have written that a developed (DHA) spray tan is generally not considered a chatzitzah. For a kallah, the widely cited preference is tevilah first, then the tan, which fits neatly with a wedding tan two days before the chuppah. Practice varies, and every kallah should confirm with her own kallah teacher, rav or yoetzet halacha.
Ask your kallah teacher or rav, and Rosie will build the schedule around whatever they tell you. She will never ask about your cycle. All she needs is a day to work around. If your rav wants to know exactly what is in the solution, or how the cosmetic guide colour washes off in the first rinse, Rosie will give you the details to pass on. The background is in spray tan before the mikvah.
Every community
Sephardi, Syrian and Ashkenazi kallahs
Rosie’s studio sits between Ocean Parkway and Kings Highway, and the kallahs who come in bring very different weeks with them. A Syrian kallah may have a swanee and a sebet before her wedding. A kallah from a Moroccan or other Mizrahi family, or from a mixed-heritage family, may have a henna night. An Ashkenazi kallah may have a vort and an aufruf. Most have a l’chaim that arrives with almost no warning. Customs differ between families as well as communities, so Rosie plans around yours rather than assuming.
What changes is the number of appointments, not the principle. The wedding tan still goes on two days before. An earlier event either gets its own tan or a Face Only glow, and any tan that would still be on your skin at tevilah is a question for your kallah teacher first. Tans for henna nights, engagement parties and sheva brachot are covered on the henna and sheva brachot spray tan page.
The shade is matched to you and your gown, not to a community stereotype. Rosie custom-blends a vegan, paraben-free, DHA-based solution for each client, and the trial four to six weeks out is where you decide how deep to go.

Mothers, sisters, mechutanot
Bring the women in your family
Mothers, sisters, grandmothers and the chatan’s side often book together. Unmarried sisters and friends can simply take the best cosmetic timing, a day or two before the wedding. Married women in the family who have a mikvah night coming up can mention a day to work around, and should ask their own rav or yoetzet if they have a question about it. Nobody will ask why.
Rosie blends for each person, so a grandmother can have a soft, natural shade while a younger sister goes deeper. Mothers can book for the whole family in one call, including the kallah, which many prefer.
Where
A Brooklyn studio, and Deal in the summer
Most kallahs come to the studio in Midwood, an easy drive from Flatbush, Ocean Parkway, Marine Park and Borough Park. For groups of 5 or more, Rosie can come to you in Brooklyn, with on-location visits quoted per booking. She also serves Deal, NJ and the surrounding Jersey Shore by appointment, especially in summer, when many community simchas move to the shore. Summer weekends go first, so book as soon as your date is set.
How to book
Call or text Rosie at (917) 326-0303. There is no online booking. Tell her the wedding date, which events you are planning for, roughly when your tevilah falls (a day is enough), and how many people are coming. She will send back a plan. For the full week-by-week picture, see the kallah spray tan timeline or the kallah beauty timeline.
Questions
Kallah spray tan FAQ
Who does the tan?
Rosie, every time. She is a woman, works alone, and does every tan herself in her private studio in Midwood.
Is a spray tan a problem for the mikvah?
Published sources such as Yoatzot Halacha and DIN Online have written that a developed DHA tan is generally not a chatzitzah, and the common preference for a kallah is tevilah first, then the tan. Ask your kallah teacher or rav; Rosie will build the schedule around their answer.
Do I have to tell Rosie my mikvah night?
Only a day to work around, if you want to. Rosie never asks about anything beyond that, and your mother can pass it on when she books.
What should I wear to my appointment?
Whatever you are comfortable in. You choose your own coverage, from your own swimwear to the disposables available in the studio.
How far ahead should a kallah book?
As soon as your date is set, especially in the busy weeks after Lag BaOmer, Shavuot, Tisha B’Av and Sukkot. A $150 deposit holds your date.
