When mobile makes sense
Studio or house call?
For one or two people, the Midwood studio is faster and simpler: a private room, a 20-minute tan, done. Mobile is for when the group is the point. A bride and her party getting ready in one living room. A bat mitzvah girl, her mother and her aunts before the party. Six friends before prom. When 5 or more of you want to tan together, Rosie brings the studio to you, and nobody has to drive across Brooklyn with fresh tan on.
Every guest gets a shade consult and her own blend, so a mobile party doesn’t mean one color for everyone. The solution is the same vegan, paraben-free, DHA-based formula used in the studio.
Setup
Getting your space ready.
What Rosie brings
Her spray equipment and the solution, custom-blended for each guest. Exactly what she sets up, and what she needs from you, depends on the space, so ask Rosie when you book and she will confirm the details.
What usually helps
As a rough guide, before Rosie confirms your setup:
- A private room with a door, where guests can undress comfortably, such as a spare bedroom or basement.
- Some clear floor space, ideally tile or wood rather than pale carpet.
- A power outlet nearby. Check with Rosie.
- Good light and some air. A window you can open, or a fan, keeps the room comfortable.
- Somewhere to wait. Guests who are done should sit in loose clothing while the color develops, away from white couches and light bedding.
What each guest does
Shave and exfoliate the day before. Arrive with clean, dry skin and no lotion, deodorant, perfume or makeup. Bring loose, dark clothes and slip-on shoes. After the tan, about eight hours with no shower, workout or tight clothes, then a lukewarm rinse with no soap. More in what to wear to a spray tan.
Events
Who books a mobile spray tan.
The occasions Rosie travels for. Each has its own timing, so read the one that fits.
Bridal parties
The classic house call, with shades coordinated across bridesmaids, sisters and the rest of the family. In the studio, bridal party tans are $120 per person; a house call is quoted per booking. Book two days before the wedding so everyone is at the natural Day 2 stage in the photos. Order of guests, timing and booking are on the bridal party spray tan page; every fixed bridal price is on bridal packages.
Bachelorettes
A tan the day before the weekend away is part of the fun, and a group of five or six fills a mobile booking easily. Pick a date that leaves eight quiet hours before any pool, beach or dancing. Our bachelorette spray tan article covers outfits and timing.
Bat mitzvahs
A light, natural glow for the bat mitzvah girl, plus deeper shades for her mother, sisters and aunts if they want them. Book one to two days before the party, and before Shabbat if the simcha is on a Saturday night or Sunday. Parents can read the bat mitzvah and sweet 16 guide and what age can you get a spray tan.
Sweet 16s
Same idea, more friends. Teens look best in a soft shade that reads as summer, not as a costume. A group of 5 friends tanning at home before the party is an easy booking.
Prom
Prom season runs from about April to June, so book as soon as the date is set. Tan one to two days before, so the color is settled and natural in photos. See prom spray tan for how dark to go.
Family simchas
A family wedding, a vort, an engagement party or a sheva brachot where the mothers, sisters and cousins all want a glow. A house call means everyone gets ready in one place. For a henna or sheva brachot, see henna and sheva brachot spray tans; for kallahs, see kallah spray tan.
Where Rosie travels

In summer, many of the same families move to the shore, and so do their simchas. Questions
Mobile spray tan FAQ.
How much does a mobile spray tan cost?
Mobile visits are quoted per booking, because group size, location and timing change the job. Call or text with your headcount, address area and date for a quote. There is a 5-person minimum.
Why is there a 5-person minimum?
Travel and setup take time whether Rosie tans one person or ten, so house calls start at 5 people. Fewer than 5? The Midwood studio is quick and private.
Do you come to Deal, NJ?
Yes. Rosie serves Deal, NJ and the surrounding Jersey Shore by appointment, especially in summer. Book early for summer Sundays and wedding weekends.
How long does a mobile spray tan party take?
A full Spray Tan takes about 20 minutes per person, plus setup and a little time between guests. The total depends on your headcount and which services each guest books, so Rosie gives you a realistic time plan when she quotes.
Are you available on Saturdays?
No. Rosie is shomer Shabbat, so mobile visits run Sunday to Thursday, 9 AM to 8 PM, and Friday until an hour before sunset. Closed on Jewish holidays.
Can teenagers get a spray tan at a bat mitzvah or sweet 16?
Bat mitzvahs and sweet 16s are among the occasions Rosie travels for. Parents should call to talk it through before booking for anyone under 18. A light, natural shade suits teens best, and if a teen has sensitive skin or a skin condition, check with her doctor first.
